Job Summary

Syndication sits within Absa’s Corporate and Investment Banking (CIB) division and ultimately reports into the Heads of Investment Banking Division and Markets. The team is responsible for the syndication and distribution of loans and debt capital market transactions across Africa. The business provides a strategic link between Markets and Investment Banking, acting as the private to public side bridge and ensures that no conflicts of interest occur and compliance standards are maintained with potential deals and pitches.

Job Description

Based in Johannesburg, the Syndication role is of strategic importance and a critical role in the organisation. The team works closely with Absa CIB’s product partners including Resource and Project Finance, Africa Regional Operations Debt team, SA Debt team, Debt Capital Markets and relationship managers in Client Coverage. The team is actively involved in the origination and distribution of transactions, providing structuring guidance, feedback on pricing, liquidity and other market intelligence to both the bank’s clients and internal product partners to manage distribution and underwrite risk. The role within Syndication will extend to senior secured and unsecured corporate debt, project and acquisition finance and the issuance of bonds, notes or other similar financial instruments. The Syndication team has additional responsibility of the bridge and underwrite loan book and managing the de-risk thereof as well as the use of Non-Payment Insurance product.

Role is suited to a candidate with commerce degree with a minimum of 5 years’ relevant loan markets experience, including Markets and/or Investment Banking. Knowledge of all functional and product aspects of loan products including term loans, reserve based lending (RBL), revolving credit facilities (RCF), pre-export financings (PXF), project finance, acquisition financing, leveraged finance, mezzanine finance and debt capital markets products including bonds, notes or other similar financial instruments required.

Bachelor`s Degrees and Advanced Diplomas: Business, Commerce and Management Studies (Required)
